Breast cancer awareness
On October 19th we commemorated one more year the international day to fight breast cancer, which represents the most common and deadly in many countries worldwide, of which it is estimated that more than 491,000 cases are diagnosed annually in Latin America, with almost more than 106 000 deaths a year, according to the World Health Organization.
Among these data, it is important to highlight that between 0.5% and 1% of cases occur in men, which is why prevention measures are not exclusive to women.
Prevention and early detection continue to be one of the best strategies that we must promote, with actions such as routine breast self-examination (it is recommended on the fifth day after the start of the period), performing control mammograms from the age of 34, and consult your doctor if you detect anything different or abnormal.
In addition, lifestyle practices have been linked as factors that help prevent the incidence of this type of cancer, such as eating a balanced diet high in fiber (with foods such as broccoli, chard, spinach, mushrooms, grapes and papaya), reduce the consumption of sugars and fats, exercise at least 30 minutes daily, maintain an adequate weight and avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
At Gelty we join the call to prevent and detect in time this disease that affects the health and quality of life of many families, what about you?
